The story of the AE line is one of the most interesting in basketball in recent years. The AE 1 was an almost instant phenomenon: released in December 2023, it sold out in a few hours, worn by NBA professionals and millions of amateur players worldwide. The AE 2 did not have the same impact — Adidas knows it, Edwards knows it, the market has clearly said so. The answer is the AE 3: arriving earlier than expected, with a bold redesign and a technological upgrade that changes the game.
When does the Adidas AE 3 release?
The Adidas AE 3 debuted on September 15-19, 2026 in the "Cold Blooded" colorway. The "Stone" colorway (KH8542 adult / KH8585 Junior) is already available at TripleBasket.

The design: the arrows that change everything
The AE 1 had honeycomb cages. The AE 2 had fang geometries. The AE 3 has arrows — triangular TPU overlays rising from the side panels pointing towards the toe, creating a silhouette always in motion even when still. It is the most discussed visual detail of the model, the one that makes it immediately recognizable and that brings the line back to the aggressive and futuristic aesthetic of the AE 1.
The cut is low-cut — the same as the AE 2, which had abandoned the mid-cut of the original AE 1. The durable mesh upper is reinforced by TPU overlays in the areas of maximum lateral stress. The sock-like interior hugs the foot from the first moment for a snug fit. The heel bumper adds stabilization in the most physical movements.
The technology: Hyperboost debuts in basketball
This is the most important point of the adult AE 3 — and the reason why this shoe is different from all previous ones in the line.
The adult version (KH8542) introduces Hyperboost in the full-length midsole. Hyperboost is Adidas' most responsive and lightweight foam — so far used exclusively in the premium running super trainers. Bringing it to basketball with the AE 3 is a significant technical upgrade compared to the LightStrike Pro of the AE 2: more energy return, more lightness, more responsiveness with every step. An integrated torsional plate adds stiffness where needed without sacrificing forefoot flexibility.
The Junior version (KH8585) instead mounts standard LightStrike — the Hyperboost logo is absent on the heel of the kids' versions. Identical design to the adult, different cushioning technology: an important detail to know before choosing.
The "Stone" colorway: cold as Ant-Man under pressure
The stone gray is not the flashiest colorway of the season — it is the most precise. Stone base on the entire upper, dark gray TPU arrow overlays, electric blue accent on the collar that emerges discreetly, and translucent midsole. An all-weather aesthetic, versatile, that works both on the court and off. Anthony Edwards is "cold blooded" on the court — cold, calculated, lethal. The "Stone" brings that same quality in a colorway.
